Expect Church Growth!
This isn’t about the power of positive thinking, but there is truth to the idea that we get what we expect to happen. Many churches are stuck in a pattern of stagnant lack of growth. In the business world, there is a saying, “If you aren’t growing, you are dying.” The same can be said of the church. Many churches today are not only not growing, sadly, they are declining. This is happening in spite of the fact that we as a church have the greatest story ever told to tell. Donald A. McGavran, in his book Understanding Church Growth said back in 1970 “More winnable people exist today and Christians have more resources for reaching them than at any other time in history” I believe that statement is even more true today than it was 40 years ago! When we as a church don’t expect anyone to be excited about what God is doing…guess what…no one gets excited. When we praise and worship God with all that we are and all that we have and when our lives scream outĀ that we are excited about serving an Awesome God, then that excitement is contagious! People want to hear about exciting things from people who are thrilled about what they are sharing! Expect that people WANT to hear about the Lord and Savior of the universe! Some don’t…but don’t let that stop us from sharing! Then as we share God’s love with people, watch to see what God can do! He is awesome! He never lets us down! He can bless us exceedingly and abundantly more than we could ever ask or imagine! We serve an incredible God!
