Dr. Joseph Ransom
I would like to take a quick moment to say congratulations to Dr. Joseph Ransom. He is the new pastor of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Sparta, MO. Many of you who read this blog don’t know anything about him. He isn’t super famous even though I think he should be. Joseph was born completely blind in one eye, and he can’t see out of the other one. I don’t think he has ever weighed over 150Lbs soaking wet. He is one of the greatest men I have ever had the privilege to call friend. When I was a young youth pastor, he was the senior pastor at Fellowship Christian Church in Springfield, MO. He also was my director for a number of plays at Stained Glass Theatre in Springfield/Ozark, MO. He wrote many of the plays I acted in over the years. We first became friends when he was an instructor at Ozarks Technical Community College. That is by no means a resume for Joseph, just a quick look for those who don’t know him.
Why am I putting this in a blog for church leaders and pastors? I just think we can all learn from a pastor who has overcome odds that many have not, and through GOD’s grace has achieved great things and accomplished amazing feats not just for a blind man, but for any man. Congrats Joseph!
